Bhubaneswar: Now a situation has developed in the Bay of Bengal for which it can’t be ruled out that Odisha will not face another cyclone in a gap of only six months after Fani hit the coast on May 3.
Things will be clear only after the next 24 hours.
According to IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, the low pressure formed in the sea north of Andaman has taken form of a depression. It is now moving in north-west direction and will take form of a cyclone in 24 hours. It will pass through Odisha and West Bengal coast. However, a clear picture will be known only after 24 hours, said Mohapatra.
He said coastal parts of Odisha will witness low to medium rainfall from November 8. Besides, heavy rainfall will occur at a few places.
Fishermen have been asked not venture into the sea from today. Those who already in the sea have been advised to return home soon.
