
Bhubaneswar: With well marked low pressure induced rain has been lashing the coastal cities of Odisha, even as Tamil Nadu Thursday bore the brunt with rainfall recorded in the range of 4-7cm, there is no respite in store for next 16-18 hours for many places in Odisha.
While IMD predicts the system intensifying into depression in the next 12 hours (by early morning of Dec 21), coastal places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradip, Gopalpur and places in the north and central Odisha like Kandhmal, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, etc, will record rainfall in the range of 2-5 cm for next 16 hours.
However, Rain will take a break from the evening hours on Dec 21.
South coastal Odisha like Berhampur/Gopalpur has recorded the highest amount of rainfall in the State Friday. The spells of rainfall in south coastal Odisha will continue throughout Saturday. But rainfall in districts like Puri, Khordha, including Bhubaneswar, Jagatsinghpur, including Paradip, Kendrapada , Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, including Baripada and Kandhmal etc., may extend up to 3pm hours on Dec 21.

On Dec 21, following cities will record more than 2 cm rainfall.
DEPRESSION TO WEAKEN BY DEC 23
As per the model forecasts by IMD-GFS, NOAA-NCEP GFS and NCUM, the depression is predicted to track north east from Dec 21 onwards, as a consequence, by Dec 22, the system tracking north east will move into the north-central Bay of Bengal and, thereafter, weaken. The system will weaken fully by Dec 23/24.
