Lord Jagannath’s special ritual Banakalagi Niti will be held today

Puri, April 27: Devotees will not be allowed to have darshan of the sibling deities for about four hours between 4 pm and 8 pm as the deities at Puri Jagannath temple for a special ritual known as Banakalagi Niti. As per the Jagannath cult, the Dutta Mohapatra Sevakas (Servitors) perform the rituals. Different types of natural colors like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, glue of Kaintha are used to prepare a Banaka, which was polished for decorating the faces of the sibling deities. However, no devotees were allowed inside the temple for darshan of the deities, informed the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
