Soro, 5/12: Police has brought loot charge against an accused, who was lodged in jail at the time of the alleged crime. The loot has occurred in Khaira police station of Balasore district during the period when he was inside the jail. This has raised question on the efficacy of the police. {"id":21519,"sizeSlug":"large"} According to report, Khaira police had arrested Kochali Nayak of Uttareswar area in Soro on January 19 and forwarded him to court, He was remanded to jail custody as his bail plea was rejected by the court. He was released from jail on August 2 after the High Court granted him bail. But surprisingly, police has named him in a highway loot case that allegedly took place on May 23, when he was inside the jail. This glaring fact was brought to fore by Advocate Bishikeshan Das and Suryakant Das, who are defending the case of Kochali. How can an under trial prisoner be involved in a highway loot when he was inside the jail, questioned the two lawyers demanding justice for their client. On the other hand, his family members accused the police of framing him with some ulterior motive.
