Locals inaugurate garbage processing unit in Bhubaneswar, Know why

Bhubaneswar,  May 25: Locals of the Palasuni area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday inaugurated a garbage processing project, developed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation(BMC), to address environmental pollution especially  foul smell.

They formally declared the solid waste management unit functional taking the call of a social outfit i.e Aliagada Hatao O Sainik School Banchao Abhiyan’.  

The drastic step was taken by the irate public as the project completed before last 8 months, fell to be commissioned by the BMC. As a result, the local suffocated due to the foul odour dispersed from the piles of garbage at the plant site.

The mega plant, was developed at a cost of around Rs 100 crore. This plant has a capacity to process 150 metric tonnes of garbage per month.

Response from the BMC authorities is yet to come, on the today’s move of the locals.
