Locals, Haryana police face off over arresting minor boy in Balasore

Balasore, Jan 23: A faceoff between the locals of Sathi village in Balasore district, has wreaked havoc at Khantapada police station on Sunday. The incident came to the fore when two policemen of Haryana police ventured to apprehend a minor boy in connection with a loot case. At the same time, the cops allegedly panicked the common men on the spot , pointing service pistols towards them. Sources said, one Lipu Rout of the Sathi area had allegedly looted at least Rs 70 lakhs from Haryana, last year. In order to apprehend Rout, two cops of Haryana police on Sunday reached the Sathi village and tried to nab the accused. Protesting the arrest of the minor, locals attacked the cops. Responding it, police threatened the protesters pointing guns towards them. At the same time, some working journalists were manhandled by the cops on the spot. Following this, a tension broke out in the police station for a long time. which was later pacified by the intervention of Sadar SDPO.
