<strong>Liquor peddlers attack police in Khordha, 7 arrested</strong>

Khordha, May 16: At least 7 liquor peddlers have been arrested in Khordha on Monday in connection with attacking police and staging illegal road block. The incident took place at Narada market under the Balipatana police limits in the afternoon. Sources said, a squad of the Balipatana police on reliable clues conducted a raid to intercept a few liquor peddlers who used to trade country liquor in the Narada area since long. Meanwhile, the peddlers obstructed the way of police and attacked them .As a result, the police came back with an empty hand. At the same time, a handful of the illegal traders staged a roadblock on the Balipatana-Nimapara road for which vehicular movement and public transport system was affected. Acting on it, armed forces led by Balipatna IIC, Balianta IIC and Pahala IIC rushed to the spot and arrested as many as 7 offenders in this connection. A few more who have fled from police will be intercepted soon, said a police official.
