Cuttack: The ongoing lawyers’ agitation is likely to be called off as three police personnel accused of allegedly assaulting an Orissa High Court lawyer sought unconditional apology before the Orissa High Court.
Sources said the final decision on cease-work agitation by lawyers will be taken at High Court Bar Association meeting scheduled this afternoon.
The HC on Tuesday posted the hearing on a petition over police-lawyers dispute to Thursday as the Crime Branch once again failed to submit the inquiry report into the incident. The CB is probing the alleged attack by three police personnel on advocate Debi Patnaik on August 28 in Cuttack, which sparked off the lawyers’ stir.
The lawyers are on strike since August 29 demanding immediate arrest of the police personnel involved in the attack.
Notably, the HC on Monday revoked the State Government’s decision to reinstate the three policemen, who were suspended for allegedly assaulting an advocate.
