Jatani, April 29: Magistrate Debendra Nath Bagh of Jatani Court emphasized that lawyers should not view their profession merely as a means to earn money but should serve as a medium to provide justice to the poor and marginalized. He made this statement during a celebration organized by the Jatani Bar Association to mark Madhusudana Jayanti and Lawyer’s Day, where he was a honorable guest. He advised that lawyers should not forget their fundamental duties while taking into account their financial situation.
In the event held at the Jatani Court premises, the Chief Guest, Arvind Patnaik, Secretary of the Odisha Legal Aid Services Authority, elaborated on how lawyers should be focused on ensuring the rights of the disadvantaged and poor. He gave multiple examples of how lawyers should conduct themselves in court.
Other distinguished guests included Pratap Chandra Beura, Additional District Magistrate of Khurda, who spoke about the historical significance of Odisha's formation and the identity and pride of Odias. The event also featured a discussion on Madhubabu’s contributions to the state’s history. Khurda Road Railways Magistrate Abhinandan Ray spoke about the great role of lawyers in society and their contribution to public service.
The Chief Speaker of the event, Heemashu Parida, highlighted the importance of Odisha's recognition as a separate state and discussed the historical journey of Madhubabu as a lawyer.
During the ceremony, Jatani MLA Bibhuti Bhushan Balabantray was awarded the "Jatani Ratna Samman" for his special contribution towards peace, progress, and stability in the region. Additionally, the Rotary Club was honored with the "Jatani Seva Samman" for its service to society.
The event was smoothly managed by the Association President, Jnanendra Senapati, with the Secretarial Speech delivered by the Secretary, Brajbandhu Pradhan. Prominent lawyers such as Sanuj Kumar Mishra, Sudhansu Shekhar Jena, Sanjay Mahapatra, Manas Subuddhi, Mahirakant Kothari, Sushant Subuddhi, Umesh Mishra, Saubhagya Jagadev, and many Lawyers in hundreds also participated. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by the Association’s Vice President.
