Bhubaneswar: Normal life continued to be hit in seven western Odisha districts as the Mahabandh called by the Central Action Committee (CAC) of lawyers’ associations, to press for establishment of a permanent High Court Bench, entered 2nd day this morning.
Schools, colleges, shops and other business institutions have remained closed and vehicular movement disrupted since Thursday morning. Similarly, rail services have been come to a standstill as activists have sat on rail limes through the night.
The Mahabandh will continue till Saturday morning.
Notably, lawyers’ cease-work agitation has almost paralysed the judicial delivery system in the region since September 5. As the lawyers were not assured of establishment of a permanent High Court Bench in the region, the CAC called for a 48-hour Mahabandh.
General public and all political parties and social organisations have extended their support to the lawyers’ agitation.
