“Law of the land should be abided by everyone”: New IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw warns Twitter

New Delhi, July 8: The newly appointed Electronics and Information Technology minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, today warned social media platform Twitter to abide by the laws of India. “The law of the land should be abided by everyone”, Vaishnaw on the issue of Twitter. The new IT Minister’s statement came as Twitter told Delhi High Court that it will appoint a Chief Compliance Officer in line with the controversial guidelines within eight weeks. Notably, Vaishnaw’s predecessor, Ravi Shankar Prasad, was earlier involved in an escalating conflict with Twitter for not complying with the new rules that came into effect on May 25.
