Labourer dies as unknown vehicle hits from behind in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal, Feb 20: A labourer died as an unknown vehicle hit him from behind near Mandar area on Dhenkanal-Bhuban road in the district today. The deceased has been identified as Sanatan Khatua, a resident of Baunsabania village in Mandar area. According to locals, Sanatan was returning home from work riding his cycle when an unknown vehicle hit him from behind near Mandar petrol pump. Subsequently, he succumbed to his injuries at the spot. Irate over the incident, the locals staged a demonstration by blocking the Dhenkanal- Bhuban road and demanded compensation to the kin of the deceased. On being informed, the Gondia police reached the spot and pacified the locals sending the body for post-mortem.
