Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on a contempt petition filed by the Odisha government against Andhra Pradesh in connection with the Kotia border dispute. As the discussion is underway between the committees formed to resolve the border dispute, the court said the hearing of the contempt petition will resume after four weeks. The Odisha government had moved the Supreme Court after the Andhra Pradesh government allegedly violated the status quo agreed upon by the two states more than 50 years ago. The SC had said the contempt of court proceedings will remain pending until no amicable solution is reached between both the states. After a meeting between Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart YS Jagan Mohan in November last year, a high-level committee comprising the Chief Secretaries of both states was formed to discuss and resolve the border issue.
