Know district-wise figures of Omicron cases in Odisha, Keonjhar on top

Bhubaneswar, Jan 5: At least 23 Omicron cases were detected till Jan 5, a maximum of seven cases belonging to the Keonjhar district. The Omicron variant of Covid-19 has spread to eight districts while seven cases from Keonjhar district, Khurda has reported four cases, three each from Puri and Sambalpur, two each from Boudh and Angul, and one each from Jagatsinghpur, and Balasore. Of them, 19 are male and four are female. The affected persons include an 8-year-old child and an 83-year-old-person too. All are asymptomatic and their condition was stable. Fifty percent of persons having the Omicron variant are locals while the rest are foreign returnees. Since they had tested Covid-19 positive earlier, their samples had been sent earlier for genome sequencing. Contract tracing has already been completed.
