Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: Khordha and Koraput district administrations have cancelled the leaves of all the government employees in the districts in view of the possible cyclonic storm Jawad.
Khordha Collector Sangram Mohapatra conducted a meeting with the Tehsildars and Block Development Officers (BDOs) to discuss the preparations of the administration regarding the cyclone Jawad.
“The district administration has kept a close eye on three blocks, Tangi, Chilika and Banapur of the district as these places are situated near the sea. We are ready to tackle any emergency situation. The leaves of all the employees have been cancelled from December 3 to 5,” said Khordha Collector.
The Koraput district administration has also cancelled the leaves of all the government officials in the district till December 5.
“In view of the cyclone Jawad, all the leaves of government officials of Koraput district are hereby cancelled and they are directed to report back to their respective headquarters immediately. All the officers and staff should not leave headquarters for three days from December 3 to 5″, said the Collector.
Worth mentioning, the depression formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into deep depression.
The deep depression is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours, said Meteorological Centre.
