KGBV student cracks NEET-2025, Brings glory to Odisha

Sambalpur, August 20: Lija Majhi, a former resident of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Type-IV hostel in Bamra, has cleared the NEET-2025 exam and secured admission to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sundargarh.
Hailing from Uchchakapat village in Bamra block, Lija is the daughter of a small farmer and belongs to the Kisan (Scheduled Tribe) community. She joined KGBV in 2021 and completed her 9th and 10th grades there, later studying at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Bamra, where she scored 82% in matric. She continued her +2 Science at OVH (Iconic), Bhubaneswar, securing 81.6%.
Despite financial and social challenges, Lija’s determination paved her path to success. KGBV authorities hailed her achievement as an inspiration for rural girls, emphasizing education as a powerful tool for empowerment.
Odisha’s KGBVs, aimed at educating marginalized adolescent girls, continue to produce remarkable success stories like Lija’s.
