Keonjhar: Old woman’s packed body recovered from Baitarani

Keonjhar, Jan 28: Keonjhar police has recovered an old woman’s body from the Baitarani River near Basudevpur village, on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Malli Naik(72 years). Sources said Malli was living with her grandson Rajan and granddaughter-in-law Bharati Naik at Shankarpur village. Meanwhile, Malli went missing the last Tuesday. Malli’s nephew Dilip Naik informed Joda police regarding the matter on Thursday. Acting on it, police initiated an investigation and interrogated Rajan in this connection. During interrogation, police came to know that the elderly woman’s body was dumped into the Baitarani water after her death. Following this, police recovered the body from the water and sent it for an autopsy. A case has been lodged. Further investigation is on to ascertain the cause of her death, said police.
