Bhubaneswar: Karnataka swimmers dominated the Day-2 of the 78th National Senior Aquatics Championship at Kalinga Stadium here on Monday, with three New Meet Record (NMR) and Tamil Nadu swimmers created an NMR.
So far Karnataka dominated the show with 15 medals including 6 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals and topped the medal tally. Followed by Tamil Nadu and RSPB with eight (5G,2S,1B) and seven (2G,2S,3B) medals respectively.
Karnataka girl Olympian Dhinidhi Desinghu bagged gold in the women's 200m Freestyle clocking 2:02.97 and created an NMR. She rewrote her own record of 2.04.24 in the year 2023 at Hyderabad.
Another Karnataka swimmer Shoan Ganguly created NMR with 2:04.34 timing in the Men 200m Medley event, the previous record was in the name of Siva S with 2:05.64 in the year 2022. While Vinayak Vijay Shankar of SSCB and Siva Sridhar grabbed the silver and bronze with 2:05.34 and 2:05.75 respectively.
Karnataka mixed 4X100m freestyle team, Rujula S, Latisha Mandaana, Akash Mani and Tanish George Matthew with a timing of 3:41.18 won gold and rewrote NMR. The earlier national record was in the name of Karnataka (3:42.92) in the year 2023.
The silver and bronze medals of the event were captured by Tamil Nadu and RSPB with 3:42.99 and 3:43.00 respectively.
Tamil Nadu mixed 4X100 Medley team, Pramiti Gnanasekaran, M S Yadesh Babu, B Benediction Rohit and Deeksha Sivakumar won the gold and set a NMR by clocking 4:03.44, the previous record was in the name of Tamil Nadu with 4:05.30 in the year 2024 at Mangalore. RSPB and Karnataka won silver and bronze medals with 4:05.14 and 4:08.13 respectively.
