Bhubaneswar: Actor-politician Kamal Haasan was conferred with honorary doctorate degree by the Centurion University, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday in recognition to his contribution in the field of cinema, culture and arts.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conferred the honorary doctorate degree to Haasan in a ceremonial convocation here.
Centurion University is a State Private University and is empowered to award degree as specified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.
On Monday, the Makkal Needhi Maiam founder and chief also called on Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence here to seek advice on politics.
“We are happy to speak one-on-one with him and get his wisdom and experience which we can use in any part of India for politics,” Haasan said on Monday after meeting Chief Minister Patnaik, who also happens to be the president of Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
