Cuttack, July 26: Jyotiprakash Biswal, who sustained burn injuries while attempting to rescue FM College student Soumyashree Bishi from a fire, is likely to be discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital in the coming days.

According to SCB Superintendent Dr. Gautam Satpathy, Biswal's condition is currently stable. A meeting of the medical team overseeing his treatment is scheduled for the upcoming Monday. Based on their assessment, a decision regarding his discharge will be made.

A report from the Plastic Surgery Department has confirmed a significant improvement in his condition. However, final clearance is still pending as inputs from other departmental specialists are awaited.

Biswal had suffered 15% burn injuries while trying to save Soumyashree Bishi, a student at FM College in Balasore, when the incident occurred. During his ongoing treatment at SCB, the Crime Branch has also interrogated him as part of its investigation.

Sources have revealed that Jyotiprakash had recorded a video on his mobile phone during the incident. Although the video was deleted, forensic experts are currently attempting to retrieve the footage, which may prove vital to the investigation.

The incident has sparked widespread attention across the state, with many hailing Biswal’s actions as an act of courage and selflessness.
