Bhubaneswar: A herd of elephant continues to create havoc in Karanjia area in Mayurbhanj district for a month now. All efforts made by forest officials have failed.
According to reports, the pachyderms coming from Jharkhand area are moving in the Raruan, Shukuli and Jashipur area in the district. By now, they have killed two villagers and damaged 50 houses. The deceased belonged to Shiramandipur village.
Besides, the elephants have also damaged paddy plants on acres of land.
Though forest officials have tried a lot to drive away the jumbos to the deep jungle, yet they have not been able to do so. The pachyderms are moving in the nearby jungle.
