Jharsuguda, Oct 17: Jharsuguda Chamber of Commerce has urged Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd (MCL) authorities to supply coal to all coal-based industries in Odisha. The officials of the Chamber of Commerce in a press conference said that most of the power sectors are facing acute coal crisis at present due to scanty production of coal. At the same time, the Central government has made provision to supply coal to the public sector undertakings from the MCL. As a result, the private power sectors are going to be shut down due to shortfall of coal in the recent future. Particularly, the Jharsuguda industrial sector is going to suffer a lot due to the coal crisis. At the same time, the business houses and locals are going to incur equal losses in their trades and livelihoods. If MCL will universally supply coal to all the coal based industries from its surplus production, the coal crisis can be addressed, said an office bearer of the outfit.
