Balasore, Nov 11: The urban centres and big villages in the Balasore district are abuzz with cultural activities now as full-fledged stage rehearsals for Jatra (opera) are on. The organizers are now hoping to turn around in the coming days.
The preparations started after the state government announced that performances at open-air theatres, including Jatra, could resume, but with not more than 50 per cent occupancy at a time.
The artists and technicians of the Biswadarabar troop have started rehearsal before their stage performances. The rehearsals were followed by an indoor script reading session.
Grappling with losses running into several lakhs of rupees owing to the shutdown during the Covid pandemic, Jatra organizers said they were doing everything to turn the scene around.
The coronavirus pandemic has impacted each one of us in some way or the other. Many of us are hard hit due to no employment and lack of financial security. With lockdowns and curfews becoming the order of the day, the Jatra industry has also borne the brunt of Coronavirus.
