Jatra actress Nisha Maharana’s dance performance spark violent group clash in Odisha

Kendrapara, Feb 10: A dance performance by popular Jatra actress Nisha Maharana sparked a violent clash between two groups of spectators at Suka Parikhit Ashram under Kudanagari police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.
As per reports, the clash erupted when Maharana, who was specially invited to perform at the Ashram as part of the Magha Mela celebrations, was going to stage for an item number performance.
Despite opposition from a section of the audience, Maharana began her performance. Later, the situation quickly escalated and violent clash erupted between the two groups.
Fearing for her safety, Maharana along with other artists abandoned the performance and fled from the scene. Two members of the organizing committee were reportedly injured in the violence and were admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The audience, who had gone to watch the performance, also became caught up in the violence.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and launched a probe into the matter. However, the organizing committee is yet to comment on the incident.
