Jajpur, Aug 21: Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, students of Baba Bhairabananda Autonomous College, Chandikhol, have come up with a heartfelt initiative to honour the soldiers guarding the nation.
The college students have prepared more than 100 handmade rakhis for Indian soldiers who often remain away from their families during festivals while performing their duties.
Using colourful wool and other materials, the students have crafted a variety of attractive rakhis with their own hands. Through the initiative, they aim to convey their love, respect and gratitude to the brave personnel serving the country.
Raksha Bandhan celebrates the sacred bond between brothers and sisters, with sisters traditionally tying rakhi on their brothers’ wrists and praying for their safety and well-being. Keeping the spirit of the festival alive, the students decided to extend this bond of affection to soldiers who cannot always celebrate the occasion with their families.
The students said their effort is aimed at bringing a smile to the faces of the soldiers and reminding them that the people of the country stand with them.
The initiative by the college students has been widely appreciated, with many praising their thoughtful gesture of combining the spirit of Raksha Bandhan with respect for the nation’s soldiers.
