Jaipur hospital fire: Toll rises to 8; PM Modi condoles deaths

Delhi, October 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The PMO India handle on X posted, "The loss of lives due to a fire tragedy at a hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, is deeply saddening. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon: PM @narendramodi".

Relatives of the victims of the fire incident at the ICU of the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur protested against the hospital administration and the State government, alleging negligence by hospital staff.

At least eight patients lost their lives as fire incident at the ICU of the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur late on Sunday night. Relatives of the victims protested against the hospital administration and the State government, alleging negligence by hospital staff.

People gathered outside the hospital, sloganeering against the administration and the BJP-led State Government.

Sources said at the time of the accident, there were 210 patients. There were 40 patients in each of the four ICUs. At night, only one staff member was in each ICU.
