Jagannath temple hundi receives donation of Rs 28.10 lakh

Puri, Nov 12: Jagannath temple in Puri today received donation worth Rs 28.10 lakh in its hundi (offertory box). The temple hundi was incorporated in the year 1983. Hundi is one of the major sources of income of the 12th century shrine. On a given day day, the temple collects Rs 15,000 from hundi. The collection reaches six-figure mark in festive occasions. Apart from hundi collections, the temple receives lakhs of rupees through general, amrutmanohi and corpus fund donation schemes from devotees, who visit the temple everyday. More than 30,000 devotees visit the shrine everyday. In festive occasions, the visitors’ footfall touches not less than 70,000.
