Jagan invites Naveen for bipartite talks on Neredi barrage

Bhubaneswar, April 19: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy has invited his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik for holding a bipatrite talk on Neredi barrage across the Banshadhara River. In a letter written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Jaganmohan sought co-operation from Odisha Government to complete the project soon. The letter read, proposed Neredi project is a lifeline for the people of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh and Gajapati district of Odisha. It can eradicate drought in these districts with plenty of water. Furthermore, the drinking water problem will be permanently solved in the catchment of the barrage. Banshadhara River water dispute was ultimately redressed by the tribunal in 2017. Andhra Pradesh has been constructing the barrage while the left swish is proposed to be constructed in the Odisha border.
