Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: "It’s all the mercy of Lord Jagannath", quipped eminent sculptor Dr Sudarshan Sahoo after being conferred the second highest civilian honour of the country Padma Bibhusan. " It's a token of glory for Odisha,not personally for me", said the 82 year-old master in Odissan architecture. Dr Sahu was nominated for the nation's civilian honour under the category of art and culture on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2021. Sudarshan was born at Kumuti Sahi in Puri on March 11, 1939. Being inspired by the magnificent temple architecture of Sri Jagannath Temple, Sudarshan got inclined toward architecture. In the year 1977, he founded Sudarshan Craft Museum to show case his skill in art and architecture first in Puri and founded an art and craft village at Jayadev Vihar in Bhubaneswar later. Kendriya Lalit Kala Akademi had awarded him the national award in recognition of his talent in art and architecture in 1991.Later, he had been conferred the life time achievement award Dharmapada Purashkar by Odisha Lalita Kala Academi in 2012
