Berhampur, Oct 11: Police today busted a betting racket on IPL matches in Lanjipalli area under Baidyanathpur police limits in Ganjam district and arrested eight persons in this connection. Police have also seized cash worth Rs 8.6 lakh from the accused. Acting on a tip-off about the racket, a team of Baidyanathpur police station conducted a raid and busted the racket. The accused have been identified as Jagannath Choudhury (33), Santosh Nayak (41), Ajit Sahu (34), Sabyasachi Padhi (35), Krtiranjan Satapathy (37), Niladri Padhi (32), Ramprasad Choudhury (34) and Binod Panda (37). Police said that the accused were found placing online bets on two websites. Police said that they are scanning the bank accounts of the accused. “We are also trying to verify involvement of others in the racket,” added the official.
