Rayagada, May 7: In a tragic incident, a mother and her son were allegedly ended their life after consuming poison after not being able to repay the loan amount in Jhimiripeta village of Rayagada district. The deceased have been identified as Rajni Gudula and her son Somesh Gudula. Reportedly, Rajani had borrowed money from some people for her daughter’s wedding. Following that, the money lenders were harassing them to repay the money soon. Several days ago, the money lenders had locked the house of the woman, following which she and her son were staying outside the house. After the intervention of Seskhal police, the mother-son duo again started living in the house. However, Rajani was highly under pressure about the situation and not having any food for the last four days. Finding no other way, they two took the extreme step by consuming poison. Both were rescued by neighbours in a critical condition and rushed to a local hospital. The two were later shifted to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital, where Shyam breathed his last around 4 am while Rajani died during treatment around 8 am, today. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
