Mumbai Indians move to Top, after Eliminating Rajasthan Royals
Mumbai Indians (MI) continued their winning mid-season surge in the 2025 Indian Premier League, securing their sixth consecutive victory. They demolished Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 100 runs on Thursday, May 1st. This propelled them to the top of the points table while officially eliminating the Royals from playoff contention.
Mumbai Post Record-Equaling Total in Jaipur
After being asked to bat first, Mumbai Indians produced a powerful and collective batting display to reach 217 for 2, matching the highest IPL total at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Openers Rohit Sharma (53) and Ryan Rickelton (61) laid a superb foundation with a century partnership. The momentum was then taken care by Suryakumar Yadav (48*) and captain Hardik Pandya (48*), who shared an explosive unbeaten stand of 94 runs off just 44 balls, marking the first time four MI batters surpassed 40 in an IPL innings.
Boult and Bumrah Dismantle Rajasthan Top Order
Rajasthan Royals' challenging chase began disastrously against Mumbai's high-quality pace attack. Trent Boult (3/28) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/15) delivered exceptional opening spells. Boult removed Yashasvi Jaiswal early, while Bumrah accounted for Riyan Parag. Young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the centurion from the previous match, was dismissed for a duck. MI's bowlers dominated the powerplay, reducing RR to a precarious 47 for 5 after six overs.
Following the early bowling attack, Mumbai Indians maintained their pressure. Karn Sharma contributed effectively with the ball, claiming three wickets (3/23). Rajasthan's batting lineup offered little resistance, eventually being bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs. Tailender Jofra Archer, batting at number nine, emerged as their unlikely top-scorer with 30 runs.
Mumbai Go Top; Rajasthan Eliminated
MI sixth straight win takes them to the summit of the IPL table. Conversely, this defeat confirms Rajasthan Royals' elimination from the playoff race. At the end MI had the best of batting depth and disciplined bowling to a shocker for Rajasthan Royals
