Investigation begins on death of infants in Keonjhar DHH

Keonjhar, Sept 19: An investigation has begun on the frequent death of infants in Keonjhar district headquarters hospital on Monday. A team comprising two senior doctors has visited the spot to investigate the sensitive matter. Sources said that two senior pediatricians of the health department reached the DHH, Keonjhar in the morning and took stock of the matter. During the visit, the team studied the status of the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), where as many as six newborn babies allegedly died due to inadequate care. Apart from it, the team members discussed with the doctors on duty who were in charge of the SNCU during the mishap. Apart from the probe undertaken by the health officials, the Keonjhar district administration has also initiated an investigation on the death of as many as six newborn babies within 24 hours. Similarly, the CDMO has initiated an in-house inquiry into the matter. Worth mentioning that as many as 13 new-born babies have allegedly died in the SNCU during a month, out of which at least six died on Saturday.
