Bhubaneswar, May 26: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said Odisha has achieved a major milestone as the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the State has come down significantly in 2020 as compared to 2005. During a review meeting of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative, Patnaik said IMR in the state has declined by 39 points. With effective implementation of quality healthcare services & focus on safe institutional delivery of women, Odisha has registered highest point decline of 39 in IMR in the country from 2005 to 2020. Odisha's IMR stands at 36/1000 live births, he said. As many as 36 infants die in every 1,000 live births in the state. The Chief Minister congratulated the Health and Family Welfare Department, Women and Child Development Department and Mission Shakti Department for the achievement and pioneering success in the noble venture.
