Flight 6E 6332, scheduled to depart Indore for Bhubaneswar at 9:00 AM, encountered the technical snag as it was heading toward the runway for takeoff.

Bhopal: An IndiGo flight carrying 140 passengers experienced a one-hour delay on Monday after pilots detected a minor technical issue just before takeoff from Indore's Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, highlighting the airline's commitment to passenger safety over schedule adherence.

Technical Issue Detected During Taxi

Flight 6E 6332, scheduled to depart Indore for Bhubaneswar at 9:00 AM, encountered the technical snag as it was heading toward the runway for takeoff. The alert pilots immediately identified the issue and made the crucial decision to abort the departure procedure.

"Pilots of the IndiGo flight number '6E 6332' noticed a technical snag when the plane was heading towards the runway for take-off," confirmed Vipin Kant Seth, Director of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, in his statement to PTI.

Swift Response and Passenger Safety Priority

Following standard safety protocols, the aircraft was immediately brought back to the apron area – the designated section of the airport where planes are parked, refueled, and maintained. This quick response demonstrates the airline's prioritization of passenger safety over operational schedules.

Notably, passengers remained onboard throughout the repair process, indicating that the technical issue was deemed minor and non-threatening to passenger safety. "Passengers were not de-boarded during the repair work," Seth confirmed, though he did not provide specific details about the nature of the technical glitch.

Professional Maintenance and Quick Resolution

IndiGo's engineering team swiftly addressed the technical problem, allowing the flight to resume its journey to Bhubaneswar. The efficient maintenance work ensured minimal disruption to passengers while maintaining the highest safety standards.

The flight eventually departed at 10:16 AM, representing a delay of approximately one hour and sixteen minutes from its original schedule. All 140 persons aboard the aircraft continued their journey to Odisha's capital city without further incident.

Aviation Safety Standards in Focus

This incident underscores the rigorous safety protocols followed by Indian aviation authorities and airlines. The detection and resolution of technical issues before takeoff, rather than during flight, represents the effectiveness of pre-flight safety checks and pilot vigilance.

Airport officials emphasized that such precautionary measures, while causing temporary inconvenience, are essential for ensuring passenger safety. The quick identification and resolution of the technical snag prevented any potential in-flight complications.

IndiGo's Safety Record and Response

IndiGo, India's largest domestic airline, has consistently maintained high safety standards across its operations. The airline's standard operating procedures require immediate attention to any technical anomalies, regardless of their perceived severity.

The Indore-Bhubaneswar route serves as an important connectivity link between Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, catering to business travelers, tourists, and passengers connecting to other destinations. Such routes are crucial for regional economic development and inter-state connectivity.

Passenger Impact and Airline Protocols

While the one-hour delay may have caused inconvenience to passengers with connecting flights or important appointments in Bhubaneswar, the airline's decision to prioritize safety over punctuality reflects industry best practices.

Modern aircraft maintenance protocols require that even minor technical issues be thoroughly investigated and resolved before flight operations continue. This approach, while occasionally causing delays, significantly contributes to aviation safety statistics.
