India reports over 3 lakh new Covid cases, 488 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi, Jan 12: India reported 3,37,704 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hours jump from yesterday's 3.17 lakh cases which was also the highest in eight months, said the Union Ministry of health and family welfare on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, the country reported 488 Covid-19 deaths. According to the Union Health Ministry’s data, the active cases now comprise 5.23 percent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 93.50 percent. The daily positivity rate is up from 16.41% to 17.94% while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 16.56 percent. The cumulative Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country have crossed the 161-crore mark. 94 percent of India's adults have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 72 percent are fully vaccinated, according to the government.
