Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today launched the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) initiative at the Chief Post Master General (CPMG) office here.
In Odisha, at least 33 IPPB branches and 165 Access Points have been launched and remaining 8,050 Access Points will start operation by December 31 this year, said Odisha CPMG Santosh Kumar Kamila.
There are 8,215 post offices in Odisha, which will work as Access Points.
As many as 1,367 postmen and 7,009 delivery agents in Branch Post Offices will provide doorstep banking in Odisha under the IPPB initiative.
It will enable money transfer, transfer of Ggovernment benefits, bill payments and other services such as investment and insurance. Postmen would deliver these services at the doorstep. The facility would also facilitate digital transactions, and help deliver the benefits of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provide assistance to farmers.
