India hockey captain Manpreet Singh thanks Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: India hockey captain Manpreet Singh today expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik after India won bronze in the Tokyo Olympics after 41 years. Manpreet in a video message expressed his special thanks to the Odisha CM for his support. “His vision for hockey and constant encouragement has helped us in achieving the remarkable feat for the country. While everyone was supporting cricket, Odisha CM chose hockey and today you can see the results of his vision,” said Manpreet. In 2018, the Odisha government signed deal with Hockey India to sponsor the men's and women's hockey teams over the next 5 years.    Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the historic win of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team at Tokyo Olympics2020 will inspire generation of sportspersons. He congratulated the team for winning the bronze medal by beating Germany. The Chief Minister also spoke to the Indian hockey team over the telephone and congratulated them for the spectacular victory. India scripted history with a fantastic 5-4 win against a fighting Germany in the Bronze medal play-off match here at the Oi Hockey Stadium.
