Indian football stars lead regional broadcast innovation for tournament fans
OTT platform ZEE5 will broadcast the FIFA World Cup 2026 in four separate languages across India after revealing a commentator list packed with legendary local athletes. Enthusiasts can track live matches via distinct audio streams using English, Hindi, Bangla, or Malayalam feeds. This strategy addresses the growing domestic consumption of global sports.
Star experts hit the microphone
Bhaichung Bhutia and current national goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu headline the broadcast roster. They will deliver structural breakdowns and direct match breakdowns throughout the schedule. Former national selector Igor Stimac joins the English feed alongside Bhutia, while Sandhu helps steer the Hindi booth with Aditi Chauhan. Odisha has established itself as an emerging athletic epicentre by hosting major intercontinental football tournaments in recent times. This expansion shows that local sports interest extends far past traditional cricket hubs. To capture this decentralized audience, the Bengali desk secures Rajat Ghosh-Dastidar, while the Malayalam stream uses the experience of I M Vijayan.
Zee Entertainment representatives shared that providing native commentary helps deep strategic insights connect with viewers on a deeper personal level. Matches kick off across the United States, Mexico, and Canada starting on June 11.
