Sonepur, Jul 18: Angry over the alleged open sale of illegal country liquor and ganja, a group of women from Bhandar village under Binika Excise Police Station in Odisha's Subarnapur district staged a protest and submitted a written complaint to the Excise Department, demanding immediate action.
According to the complainants, illicit country liquor and ganja are being sold openly in the village, leading to widespread substance abuse among school students and local youth. The women alleged that the growing addiction has disrupted family life, resulting in frequent domestic disputes and creating an atmosphere of unrest in the village.
Determined to put an end to the illegal trade, the women approached Binika Excise Officer Buddhadev Putel and urged the department to crack down on those involved. They demanded strict enforcement to stop the sale of narcotics and illicit liquor and protect the younger generation from falling prey to addiction.
