Operation ‘JEEVAN RAKSHA’: Central Range Police’s violent crackdown sensitizes mass on road safety

Operation ‘JEEVAN RAKSHA’: Central Range Police’s violent crackdown sensitizes mass on road safety

​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Jan 12: While the state is working out on the ‘Zero Casualty in Road Mishaps’ resolve during this Road Safety Week, the Central Range Police, Cuttack heightened its crackdown across all of its districts, to sensitize mass in this connection.

In order to enhance road safety, ensure compliance with traffic laws and prevent road accidents, the Central Range Police, Cuttack conducted a special road safety enforcement drive titled under the aegis of “Operation JEEVAN RAKSHA” on Monday across all seven districts under its jurisdiction.

During the operation, systematic checking of commercial buses, transport vehicles, heavy vehicles and other motor vehicles was carried out at identified vulnerable and high-traffic locations. The drive focused on detection of traffic violations, enforcement of safety norms, and deterrence against negligent and rash driving.

During the violent crackdowns across the Central Range, as many as 1,401 vehicles were checked including special inspection of 12 buses and 8 transport/heavy vehicles. A sizeable fine worth Rs 4,70,000 was collected from the offenders and rash drivers.

In Puri District,a total of 495 vehicles were checked and fines amounting to Rs 3,12,500 was collected for breaching traffic norms while the Cuttack District especially at Kantapada & Parsurampura), 5 commercial buses were checked as part of the drive.

Similarly in Kendrapara District,160 vehicles were checked and a fine of Rs 33,000 was imposed on the traffic violaters whereas inagatsinghpur District at least 128 vehicles were checked with collecting fines amounting to Rs 16,000.

During the enforcements in the Jajpur District,184 vehicles were checked and Rs 29,500 was realized as fine.

Apart from it, from the checkings in the Khordha District at Godipada Toll Plaza under the Jankia Police, 4 transport/heavy vehicles were inspected, as a part of road safety drive.

In Nayagarh District, at least 425 vehicles were checked and fines amounting to Rs 79,000 were collected from the vehicle owners, for their non compliances with the road safety & traffic norms.

With it, the Central Range Police reiterates its commitment to road safety and appeals to all commuters and vehicle users to strictly adhere to traffic rules, wear protective gear, avoid overspeeding and drunk driving, and cooperate with enforcement agencies. Such drives will continue in the interest of public safety and to save precious human lives.
