Balasore, July 1: The 113th birth anniversary of noted freedom fighter and former Bhograi MLA Pyarimohan Das was observed with great reverence, with speakers highlighting that his ideals and lifelong commitment to public service should continue to inspire future generations.

The commemorative programme was organised by the Pyarimohan Seva Parishad at Neguan, where distinguished personalities, educationists, political leaders, and local residents paid floral tributes to the statue of the veteran leader.

During the event, several senior speakers recalled Pyarimohan Das's significant contributions to India's freedom movement, particularly his participation in Mahatma Gandhi's Harijan Padayatra and the Nilgiri Praja Mandal movement. They described him as a fearless patriot who dedicated his life to the cause of justice and social reform.

Speakers also referred to an episode in which Pyarimohan Das was allegedly sentenced to death in connection with a plot to bomb the British Chief Secretary, stating that he was ultimately spared the gallows following the intervention of Mahatma Gandhi.
