West Bengal-based tourists venturing for Puri stranded mid-sea: Rescued

Balasore, Dec 28: A group of at least 20 West Bengal-based tourists who ventured for Puri were rescued from mid-sea after their boat ceased in the deep water.

The stranded tourists were rescued on Sunday near the Digha estuary in Odisha.

According to reports, the tourists who set out for Jagannath Darshan from Patharpratima in South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, were on their way to Digha on the sea route. Meanwhile the boat at once stopped operating by mid-night on Saturday. As a result, the vessel remained stuck in deep sea amid the violent tides.

On being informed, Digha Police rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation in collaboration with other marine services agencies.
