Three-day Krushi Odisha event kicks off

Bhubaneswar, January 22: Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Thursday inaugurated the three-day Krushi Odisha-2026 at the Biju Patnaik Playground at Baramunda here.

“This initiative aims to revolutionise the State's agricultural sector through innovation, market linkage, and sustainable practices,” said Singh Deo.

The key objectives of Krushi Odisha-2026 to showcase of best products, practices, emerging technologies that drive farm profitability, strengthening of understanding of various factors and interactions in the value chain management of agri‑commodities and also initiate a platform for interface and linkage among market players, service providers, agri‑preneurs, and industry.

Two technical sessions for the farmers were held today on the topics - Market Driven Speciality Rice Cultivation and Promoting Seedpreneurs Sustainable Seed Production. A MoA was signed in the inaugural session stating the launch of the Odisha Agriculture Drought Mitigation Program.

A compendium on success stories on rice fallow management and a handbook on agricultural input recommendation for sustainable production and protection was unveiled by the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries.

Today's event featured demonstrations of cutting‑edge technologies like drones in agriculture, exhibitions of best farm practices, and networking opportunities for agri‑entrepreneurs and institutions to forge profitable partnerships.

Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment Department ACS Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, OUAT Vice Chancellor Dr Pravat Kumar Roul, ICRISAT Director General Dr Himanshu Pathak, Agriculture Director Shubham Saxena, Horticulture Director Kalunge Gorakh Waman, Soil Conservation & Watershed Management Director Subrat Kumar Panda attended the programme.

The Krushi Odisha provides scope for institutional interaction and partnership to strengthen the agricultural ecosystem, said by department ACS Dr Arabinda Padhee.

The Deputy Chief Minister also felicitated successful farmers on the occassion.
