Bhubaneswar, April 11: The Directorate of Elementary Education has imposed a temporary ban on the transfer of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in view of the ongoing voter list revision process. Urgent instructions in this regard have been issued to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs).

As school teachers are generally appointed as BLOs, the directive effectively puts a hold on their transfers. Officials said that no BLO will be transferred until the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, being conducted as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

BLOs play a key role in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls. Authorities have taken this step to ensure that the ongoing process is not disrupted, as transfers during this period could hamper the smooth execution of the work.
