Baripada, July 18: A teacher of Udala Gurukul Vidya Mandir has come under scrutiny after allegedly assaulting four hostel students for leaving the campus to watch the Rath Yatra without informing the school authorities.

According to the complaint, the four residential students had gone to witness the Rath Yatra and returned to the hostel later. On their return, the teacher, identified as Jijnasa Guruma, allegedly became furious and beat the students repeatedly with a pipe.

Unable to endure the assault, the injured students reportedly fled to the Udala Police Station and lodged a complaint. One of the victims, a Class IV student, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Udala Medical for treatment.

The students reportedly suffered deep injury marks on their backs, while visible injuries were also found on their chests, indicating the severity of the alleged assault.

When contacted over the incident, the school authorities reportedly declined to comment and walked away from the cameras without issuing any statement.

Police are expected to investigate the allegations following the complaint filed by the students.
