Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Meets MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi After Taking Oath

Chennai, May 11:Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Monday visited former Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin at his Chennai residence. During the visit, he also met former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. This marked Vijay’s first formal interaction with senior DMK leaders since assuming office as Chief Minister following the formation of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government.

The meeting came a day after the swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed TVK-led government. On Monday, all MLAs of the State Legislative Assembly also took their oaths as members. Prominent leaders such as Edappadi K. Palaniswami, O. Panneerselvam, and Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with ministers including N. Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, K.G. Arunraj, and K.A. Sengottaiyan, were sworn in. CM Vijay himself took the oath as an MLA, administered by pro tem Speaker M.V. Karuppaiah.

In his first address as Chief Minister, Vijay pledged to lead a “transparent government” and criticized the previous DMK administration for depleting the state treasury. “After reviewing everything, I intend to release a white paper to the people. My government will operate openly and transparently. I request everyone’s patience as I work to fulfill my promises. I will also ensure strict safety measures for women,” he said.

Immediately after taking office, Vijay signed key official documents, including approvals for providing 200 units of free electricity and establishing Special Task Forces to combat drug-related crimes and enhance women’s safety.

TVK achieved a major victory in the recent Assembly elections, emerging as the single-largest party with 108 seats. Though falling short of the majority mark of 118, Vijay was able to form the government with the support of parties including the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Left parties, and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
