Stricter enforcement of PUCC checks in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Ap 2: The enforcement of Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) checks will be strengthened across Odisha starting Thursday, following a period of relaxed verification until April 1. Authorities are intensifying inspections as part of a broader state-wide road safety initiative, which has been extended until April 10 under the instructions of Odisha's Commerce and Transport Minister, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.

The campaign, launched on March 21, aims to reduce road accidents and improve compliance with safety regulations. Initially, checks on pollution certificates were carried out with some leniency, but enforcement teams will now implement stricter monitoring across the state. Motorists are urged to ensure their vehicles possess valid PUCC documents as authorities increase scrutiny.

The renewed focus on enforcing PUCC compliance is part of a larger effort to regulate traffic violations and uphold road safety standards. As part of the initiative, enforcement agencies have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance on roads, with a primary focus on reducing accident risks.

Alongside stricter enforcement measures, the government is also conducting road safety awareness programs across Odisha to educate the public about safe driving practices and the importance of adhering to traffic rules. Authorities believe that the combined approach of awareness campaigns and increased enforcement will improve compliance and contribute to a reduction in road accidents across the state.
