Statewide Digital Census begins today; 90,000+ officials deployed

Bhubaneswar, April 16: The digital census exercise commenced across the state on Thursday, with over 90,200 officials deployed for door-to-door data collection. The Directorate of Census Operations informed that 15,140 supervisors have been appointed to monitor the process.

As per guidelines, each enumerator will collect data of around 800 individuals, covering nearly 200 to 220 households. Officials will also number houses and ask 33 questions to the head of each family during the survey.

The exercise will continue till May 15, officials said.

Prior to this, a self-enumeration phase was conducted from April 1 to 15, allowing citizens to submit their details online using mobile devices through the official census portal. This marks the first time that people have been given the option to complete the census digitally on their own.

Authorities have assured that all information collected during the process will be kept strictly confidential.
