Bhubaneswar, July 16: A stampede-like situation was reported during the world-famous Puri Rath Yatra on Thursday, resulting in the death of a devotee and several person repotedly injured.

The deceased has been identified as Anil Dash, aged about 55, a resident of Cuttack district.

According to reports, the incident occurred near Marichikota Square on the Grand Road (Bada Danda), where Dash reportedly sustained injuries amid the heavy rush of devotees.

Police personnel immediately rescued him and rushed him to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The exact circumstances leading to the stampede-like situation are yet to be officially confirmed. Authorities are monitoring the situation and maintaining crowd control measures along the Rath Yatra route.Bottom of Form
